Previously, Achema, the largest fertilizer plant in the Baltics, and ANWIL, a Polish producer of nitrogen fertilizers, have already closed.
The energy crisis may result in 25% reduction of fertilizer production. This, in turn, may cause food prices to rise as early as this season and further accelerate inflation in the EU.
