In view of the Texas elementary school shooting situation on May 24, the actor suggested that the White House:

Introduce stricter background checks for possible gun owners;

Raise the minimum age for purchasing automatic rifles.

"Responsible gun owners are fed up with some lunatics abusing the Second Amendment. The proposed rules are not a step backward, they are a step forward for our society and the Second Amendment," McConaughey said.
