Apple plans to open its first shops in India: in Mumbai on 18 April and in Delhi on 20 April. Apple CEO Tim Cook may attend the opening ceremony, CNBC reported.
"I am very optimistic about India," Cook said during a February conference call on Apple's December quarter results. According to him, Apple is "investing a significant amount of energy" in India.
Apple is strengthening its position in the Indian market, which is dominated by low- and mid-priced smartphones from companies such as Samsung and Xiaomi. According to Counterpoint Research, iPhone shipments grew 16% year-on-year in 2022, and Apple was the number one player in the premium segment of the market.
