Samsung's Groundbreaking ETF Strategy Transforms U.S. Natural Gas Market
Samsung launches first themed active ETF focusing on U.S. natural gas infrastructure, marking a milestone in global energy investment strategies.

Samsung Active Asset Management has taken a monumental step in exporting its first themed active ETF strategy into the U.S. With a focus on breaking new ground in natural gas infrastructure investment, they have launched the KoAct U.S. Natural Gas Infrastructure Active ETF in collaboration with Amplify, a U.S. ETF management firm. This venture represents a significant move into the expansive flow of U.S. exchange-traded funds (ETF), broadening Samsung’s financial foothold across international markets. According to 매일경제, Samsung’s strategic expansion taps into the burgeoning energy sector and diversified finance opportunities.
A Historic Launch
The Amplify U.S. Natural Gas Infrastructure ETF (USNG), which is listed on the New York Exchange as of the 20th of this month, marks Samsung Asset Management’s maiden venture into stock-type products in the U.S market. With Samsung’s New York subsidiary overseeing operations, this ETF targets the entire value chain of the U.S. natural gas industry, integrating up to 25% of Master Limited Partnership (MLP) assets like pipelines and energy storage facilities. This bold approach contends with approximately 15 existing energy infrastructure ETFs in the U.S., yet stands distinguished by its comprehensive focus solely on natural gas.
Bridging Energy Gaps
The significance of investing in natural gas becomes strikingly clear amidst the current energy transition period. As data centers mushroom and artificial intelligence’s demands grow, the natural gas industry finds itself at the pivot of energy strategy. Samsung positions the USNG ETF as a bridge to maintaining stability during these energy market shifts, backed by Samsung Asset Management’s strategy in concert with Amplify.
Expanding Global Strategies
Building on past successes of bond-type ETFs in the U.S. market in 2023 and prior, Samsung’s active stock management expertise shines through, further expanding with their subsidiary’s cooperation. “Achieving this pioneering status with the first natural gas-themed ETF in the U.S. market underscores the critical importance of natural gas,” remarked Kim Ji-woon, head of KoAct ETF management division. Meanwhile, Yoo Jin-hwan, Samsung Asset Management’s MD of Global Product Strategy, emphasized ongoing efforts to innovate with the KoAct ETF line as Samsung aims to become an icon of investment ingenuity.
A Future Brightened by Gas
As Samsung continues to identify new investment avenues through its New York subsidiary, the focus remains on enabling products that align with America’s evolving energy strategy. Their dedication to pioneering and innovating within the ETF landscape marks a critical transformation period for not just Samsung, but investors who understand the growing significance of infrastructure investment in stabilizing financial futures.
The KoAct U.S. Natural Gas Infrastructure Active ETF symbolizes Samsung’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to leveraging global insights to boost their standing as a leader in international EFT markets.
