China Signs Security Agreement with the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific - U.S., Australia, and New Zealand protested

U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price warned that the broad nature of the agreement "leaves the door open for the deployment of military forces from the People's Republic."

He also expressed concern that China's presence could destabilize the Solomon Islands.
