Venture capital investments overtake IPO market in Europe
The amount of deals with venture capital in the first half of this year amounted to $57 billion - only 4% less than a year earlier. Start-ups are in no hurry to go public due to the turbulence in the economy and stock market turmoil.
In turn, the initial public offering market in the EU managed to raise only $6.4 billion over the same period, losing more than 88% year-over-year.
The news, of course, is negative. The era of cheap money is over and young companies have to adapt to new realities and look for new sources of capital.
