Germany's economic sentiment index fell to pandemic lows as companies fear rising energy prices

The ZEW Institute's index of expectations fell to -41 in April from -39.3 in the previous month.

"Experts are pessimistic about the current economic situation and suggest it will continue to worsen," ZEW President Achim Wambach said Tuesday.
