A total of 3.3 million tons of cargo was transported between the countries last year.

In 2022, 3.3 million tons of cargo were transferred through the border crossings between Ukraine and Romania, which is almost twice as much as in 2021, it was discussed during a meeting of Ukrainian and Romanian railway workers with shippers.

"If we talk about volumes, then in the past 2022, 3 million 303 thousand tons of cargo were handled through Romanian border crossings. At the same time, the increase was almost 2 times. In 2021, the volume of cargo transfer in Romania amounted to 1 million 684 thousand tons," said Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Commercial Work Department of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia".

He noted that grain is the leader among the cargoes. Ore is on the second place. The top four also includes cement and ferrous metals.

At the same time, during the meeting it was noted that in the first half of January 2023, the indicators slightly deteriorated compared to December 2022.

The railway workers discussed how to improve the work. Romanian carriers voiced, in particular, the problem with issuing visas for their employees, for whom the period of stay abroad is limited.
